The DPHS Foundation is actively working to modernize 22 classrooms with new tables, chairs and other equipment to replace worn out items.
Mental Health Support
The DPHS Foundation helped fund the Wellness Center which opened its doors to students in February 2025. The vision for the Wellness Center was to provide a safe place for students to go when they are feeling anxious, stressed or in need of social and emotional support.
Key features of the Wellness Center include:
A full-time Wellness Center Coordinator who provides drop-in services for students
A dedicated space for community agency mental health professionals including Family Service Agency, Santa Barbara Hospice, CALM, CADA, BeWell, and Alateen
Short-term solution based counseling and referral services
A Peer Leader Program for wellness mentorship
Monthly themed wellness campaigns with corresponding lunchtime activities
A Wellness Pantry stocking non-perishable foods, school supplies, and hygiene items
Facilities Improvement
The DPHS Foundation funded the Patio Project in 2021, including 1,872 square feet of additional hardscaping in the area above the Greek Theatre, picnic tables, umbrellas, benches and new trash cans, providing much-needed space for students returning to school after the pandemic.
The DPHS Foundation continues to work to beautify the grounds with the ongoing Bricks initiative, replacing muddy or difficult landscaping areas with bricks commemorating present and past students.
The DPHS Foundation supported both the Class of 2020 Resiliency Wall and the Class of 2021 We Are DP Wall as a way of helping seniors through the loss of their senior years due to the pandemic. Both tribute murals hang on the gymnasium.
